Andrea M. Bullen

I’ve been on my artistic journey for about 30 years now. I’ve been an art student, art teacher, and artist. Suppose I still am all three. I’ve come a long way from the beginning but animals have always been my favourite subject, because.. well, I loved animals then and (surprise!) I still love animals. In 2021, when I took a break from teaching painting to raise my new puppy, I decided to begin sharing my art with others. After pondering how to approach doing this, it only seemed fitting for me to begin this new chapter creating pet portraits – paintings for people who love animals just as much as I do!

I was nervous putting myself out there as creating art is quite an intimate thing really. But I’m so glad I did as it went better than I could have anticipated! I’ve now been creating pet portraits for a few years and it’s been such a joy and truly an honour thus far. I’m proud of my growth and what I am now capable of creating for others. On this journey I’ve discovered a newfound appreciation for portrait art! A painted portrait really is the perfect way to cherish, treasure and immortalise someone precious.

Not only do I enjoy painting the portraits but I also enjoy getting to know your adored pets as I work on bringing them to life. Each has made a lasting impression on me as I spend hours admiring them, figuring out what makes them so uniquely them, and attempting to capture that for you. Days spent staring into their glorious twinkling eyes as they slowly come to life under my tablet pen.

I am thankful to all the amazing people I’ve worked with thus far and touched by the heart warming stories you’ve shared with me. So many dearly loved pets out there!

I know it, you know it, the love we share with our pets is unmatched. Best said by W.R Purche, “Everybody thinks they have the best dog [pet]. And none of them are wrong” :]
